It was all about the gloss at Alexander Wang, with nearly every surface looking either lacquered, laminated or waxed. Jackets came in an array of styles with high necks, peter pan collars, buttons, zips, leather, mohair, slim fit and puffer. Mid calf length skirts and trousers were sent down the runway accessorized with fishnet stockings that matched the models’ lattice face guards.
It was all about a spiritual quest from dark to light in Prabal Gurung’s collection. The journey started off with black, traveling through varying hues of blue, eventually culminating in a finale of gold and ivory. The silhouette of the pieces were sleek and sexy with his expert tailoring joining the mix. Skin was flashed in all sorts of places and then covered up from head to toe, showing his ability to embrace all walks of fashion.
Considering it’s the year of the Dragon, it was quite fitting for Monique Lhuillier’s palette to be red and black for her Fall 2012 show. Belted knee length dresses in amazing prints swanned down the catwalk accesorized with leather gloves. Textured coats and silk tailored trousers with leather panels added a touch of masculinity to the otherwise very flattering feminine collection.
